Recently, Bitmain has introduced a new miner for the SHA256 algorithm: the Antminer S9 Hydro, which immediately has attracted widespread attention ever since. We finally witnessed the mass-production of water-cooling miners in the real sense! S9 Hydro miner supports BTC, BCH, DGB and other SHA256 currencies. It adapts to Antminer APW5 silent power supply with low temperature, low noise and dust-free.
As a scientific company dedicating to high-speed, low-power customized chip design and development, Bitmain has successfully designed and mass-produced multiple models of ASIC customized chips and all-in-one systems. Bitmain was established in 2013 and introduced the first-generation bitcoin miner of Antminer series, Antminer S1, in the same year. With over five years of development, the bitcoin miner of Antminer series has undergone iterations of multiple models of S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S7 and S9. The latest models are S15 and T15, which were on sale on November 8, 2018.
Antminer S15 adopts a brand-new 7nm chip manufacturing technology and the official website evaluates model S15 as Long-term Mining, Energy Efficiency, which emphasizing the features of “high performance with durability and energy efficiency with less power consumption”. According to the parameters on the official website, Antminer S15 has two types of built-in mining modes: High-Performance Mode and Energy-Saving Mode. As per the official parameters, the energy/hash ratio is 57 J/T in High-Performance Mode and 50 J/T in Energy-Saving Mode. Compared to the bitcoin miners on current market, such an energy/hash ratio has set a record high.
Recently, Bitmain has produced a batch of Bytom miners modelled Antminer B7. Before we start to experience the miner, we’d better firstly understand what Bytom(BTM) stands for.
In June 2016, Bitmain released the bitcoin miner Antminer S9 (refer to: Evaluation on Antminer S9 16nm Bitcoin Miner), which adopted the 189 pieces of the latest BM1387 chips independently developed by Bitmain. The overall hash could reach 11.85 TH/s with 1172W power and 100W/T efficiency. The BM1387 is the 5th generation bitcoin miner chip independently developed by Bitmain, which adopts TSMC 16nm FinFET process and fully-customized designs. The maximum hash of a single chip can reach 74GH/S.
No one ever expected that a classic bitcoin miner Antminer S9 had come into being since then.
Bitmain has recently released its firmware for the popular Antminer S9 to enable what is called “overt AsicBoost”. What is AsicBoost? In short, AsicBoost is best described as a “mathematical trick”. Instead of taking a huge amount of computation, miners can use the technique to whittle down their choices of potential hashes that enable them to solve a puzzle and claim bitcoin’s rewards.

Bitmain introduced Antminer L3 series at the end of 2016, which adopted the self-developed Litecoin chip BM1485. Antminer L3 series include three versions up to now: Antminer L3 (Hashrate 250m/ Power 400w), Antminer L3+ (Hashrate 500m/ Power 800w), Antminer L3++ (Hashrate 580m/Power 942w).
This tutorial is meant for the Antminer S17/S17 Pro which is a bitcoin miner manufactured by BITMAIN.
